Northcutt, Charles 'Donald'
Charles “Donald” Northcutt, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at The Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, after a nearly two year battle with cancer. Family will meet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, with a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Northcutt of Cedar Rapids; mother, Dona Northcutt of Campbell, Mo.; children, Lindsey Wagamon (fiance Ryan Hamilton) of Cedar Rapids, Joshua (Kelsey) Northcutt of Atkins, and Shannon Northcutt (Preston Tobin) of Iowa City; brothers, Joe (Kathy) Northcutt of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Bobby (Kristen) Northcutt of Stoutland, Mo.; and grandchildren, Carter Hamilton, and Alexis and Kael Northcutt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Northcutt; and parents-in-law, Marvin and Doris West.
Don was born Dec. 4, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Robert and Dona (Brown) Northcutt. He graduated from Parkway West High School in Ballwin, Mo. He moved to Iowa, where he worked at various transportations and logistics companies, in sales, management and operations. Most recently at H.J. Heinz in Cedar Rapids. Don married Kimberly Carbaugh on June 1, 1985, to this union two children were born, Joshua and Shannon. They later divorced. He married Wendy Wagamon on May 22, 1999, in Cedar Rapids. He loved sports, especially baseball, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Don enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, golf, chess and his two Golden Retrievers, Harley Jo and Bailey Mae.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jasmine Nabi and Dr. Wook Lee and the staff of Oncology Associates and the Hall - Perrine Cancer Center; Dr. Jeff Krivit of PCI ENT Specialists; Dr. Rodrigo Bayon and staff at U of I Otolaryngology; and a special thanks to Mercy Hospice nurse Rebecca and for all the care Don received with the Hospice of Mercy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mercy Foundation.
