Wagner, Charles 'Chuck'
STANWOOD - Charles “Chuck” Wagner, 84, of Stanwood, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from complications of cancer. Private Celebration of Life services will take place at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Pastor Ron Lashmit officiating. Following services his body will be cremated, with inurnment at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born Sept. 12, 1926, in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elmer “Curly” and Iola (Brutche) Wagner, he married Hazel Ion Hearn on Feb. 22, 1953. She passed away in 1959. He married Mary Florence Trejtnar in September 1962; they later divorced. He married Naomi Conway on April 7, 1990.
In his early years Chuck joined the military, returning to Iowa to farm and raise his family. He was a 4-H leader, American Legion member and past church board member. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family and friends, and work at the “Co-op.”
Survivors include his wife, Naomi; nine children: sons, Mike, Olin, Dan, South Carolina, Chuck, Blairstown, and Tony (Michelle), Mechanicsville; daughters, Janet Toelle, Glen Burnie, Md., Arleen (Jeff) Moore, Harrah, Okla., Adrianne (Dave) McAtee, Olin, Mary (Glen) Henry, Palo, and Verna (Steve Ihns) First, Stanwood; 20 grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Luke, Logan, Cassie, Anthony, William, Lori, Kimberly, Cheri, Izaac, Calvin, Kelly, Katie, Austin, Tom, Cole, Jake, Ross and Jessica; 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Katlyn, Alexis, Dustin, Elizabeth, Alix, Allie, Luke, Lane, Aubrey and Lexus; a brother, Phillip, Muscatine; and five half sisters, Wanda Brown, Ankeny, Bev Allen, Carson City, Nev., Alma Unruh, Mechanicsville, and Phyllis Wenndt and Louise (Tom) Bell, both of Stanwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel; brothers, Darrell and Duane; son-in-law, Brad First; and granddaughters, June and Laura.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Stanwood Fire Department or Stanwood Ambulance.
