Craig, Marcia L.
Marcia L. Craig, 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 13, 2013, in Seasons Hospice Palliative Care in Naperville, Ill. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where a visitation will begin at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dave Higdon will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her sons, Doug (Betty) Craig of Osceola, Jeff (Rene) Craig of Big Rock, Ill. and Greg (Karen) Craig of Sandwich, Ill.; a sister, Enid Kendall of Osceola; her grandchildren, Wendy (Brian) Short, Jenna (Josh) Johnson, Tobby Craig, Nolan Craig, Ben Craig, Colton Craig and Brad Craig; and her great-grandchildren, Jolie, Jeron, Jacey, Lucas, Kaleb and Nolan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Craig; her parents; a teenage sister, Myrna Delene Siefkas; and an infant brother.
Marcia was born Aug. 23, 1925 in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Kelley) Siefkas. She married Herbert E. Craig on May 31, 1952, in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Marcia graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a teacher's degree. She taught in several country schools in Clarke County, Iowa, and kindergarten in Pella, Iowa, and a 4-H leader for the Clover Pals in Clarke County, Iowa.
After moving to Illinois, she worked at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Aurora, Ill. Marcia was an active member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 15 years. She loved spending time with her children, grandkids attending all their sporting events and 4-H shows. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
