Masterson, Doris I.
Doris I. Masterson, 75, of Brown Deer, Wis., died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.
Born Feb 2, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Reginald and Vera (Stewart) Touro. She worked as a fifth-grade teacher for many years at Stephen Elementary School in Mequon, Wis., until retirement. Doris married Joseph “Joe” Masterson at Kenwood Presbyterian in Cedar Rapids, on Aug. 8, 1981. Throughout the years, she loved camping, spending quality time with her family near woods and water. Many enjoyable days were spent at Kohler-Andrae State Park or at their annual anniversary destination of Door County, both in Wisconsin. Doris had a love of butterflies, finding interesting ways to incorporate them into her years of teaching, as well as in more recent activities with her grandkids. Education continued to be very important to her throughout her life. Above all, she was a caretaker who enjoyed looking after her family and extended family.
Doris will be deeply missed by her husband, Joe of Brown Deer; two children, Jeff (Sally) Owen of Germantown, Wis., and Michelle Ramirez of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren, Sophia and Lorenzo Ramirez; sister, Darlene Schrimper of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Don (Becky) Touro of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Ken (Linda) Touro of Cedar Rapids.
Also survived by numerous, nieces and nephews; her “almost” kids, Rich and Amy Ramirez; and other special people that truly impacted her life.
Preceded in death by parents, and former husband, Donald L. Owen.
Memorial service: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1350 Highway 175, Hubertus, Wis., with the Rev. Jay Thorson officiating. Visitation: 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the church. Final resting place will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Wis.
