Kernels take series finale from Lugnuts, 11-5

Lansing, MI - The Cedar Rapids Kernels took the final game of their three game series with the Lansing Lugnuts by the score of 11-5 on Thursday night in Lansing. The Kernels turned five Lansing errors into nine unearned runs as only two of the Kernels 11 runs were earned.
Kernels starter Tyler Skaggs (5-2) picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits and struck out six over five innings pitched. Jean Segura led the Kernels offense, going 3-4 with 3 RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base and Michael Wing went 3-5 with an RBI and run scored. Justin Bass, Casey Haerther and Jeremy Cruz each added two RBI.
The win keeps the Kernels three games ahead of Quad Cities in first place in the MWL Western Division and sixteen games over .500 at 35-19. Lansing starter Dave Sever (1-3) allowed nine runs (one earned) on eight hits over 2 innings as the Lugnuts fall to 30-23.
