Short, Olga Staskal
Olga Staskal Short, 97, of Torrance, Calif., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, in Torrance. Memorial graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Arrangements with Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel.
Survivors include her daughter, Dolores (De De) Hicks of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; and two sisters, Lottie Louvar and Henrietta Klouda, both of Cedar Rapids.
Olga was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Cedar Rapids. She married Edward Staskal; he died. Olga then married Vincent Short; he also preceded her in death.
Olga was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the charity of their choice in Olga's name.
