PETER "LARRY" SORENSEN
North Liberty
Peter "Larry" Sorensen, 66, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at home following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, Coralville, with Father Edmond Dunn officiating. The family will greet friends from noon to 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin.
A memorial fund has been established.
Larry was born March 5, 1948, in Iowa City, the son of Peter and Dorothy Kutcher Sorensen. He was a graduate of Oxford High School. Larry served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. On Oct. 17, 1980, Larry married Sharon McCoy Adams in North Liberty.
Larry was in car sales for over 30 years with Old Capitol Motors, Hargrave- McEleney and Community Motors, retiring in 2009. He participated with his brother in drag car racing and enjoyed NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Christina Sorensen; and two stepsons, Gary and Stephen Adams; four brothers, Chuck (Deena), Steve, Jim and Mike; two sisters, Susie and Diane Sorensen; and six stepgrandchildren.
Larry was preceded by his parents; his brother, Paul; stepdaughter, Terri Trabert; and two stepgrandchildren.
