Blanchard, Elda
Elda Blanchard, 88, of Marion, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Mike Morgan will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith (Richard) Duncan and Shirley (Jerald) Lange, both of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Lynn (Mark) Schliemann, Tamara (Gerald) Phipps and Todd (Kim) Duncan; and five great-grandchildren, Tiffany Schliemann, Tyler and Corey Duncan and Zach and Cody Phipps.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Uri; and a brother, Marvin Stahlberg.
Elda Stahlberg was born Oct. 10, 1921, at Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna Tobiason Stahlberg. Elda received her education in Wayne Township School No. 5. Elda Stahlberg and Uri Blanchard were married Nov. 3, 1940, at Manchester. The couple lived in Hopkinton and later in Monticello. Elda was employed at Collins Radio in Anamosa and Cedar Rapids for 26 years. The couple moved to Marion in 1969. Uri preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1989. Elda was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion. She was baptized and confirmed at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Elda liked to travel and also enjoyed the Collins Retirees get-together and time spent gardening. Her greatest love was her family.
