Teed, Merle Howard
Merle Howard Teed, 75, of 46 Vinton St., Palo, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David V. Miller. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and at the church Monday after 9 a.m.
Merle was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Clayton County, the son of Elmer and Henrietta (Priest) Teed. He married Elizabeth Annette Hartl on Nov. 2, 1958, at Bethany Lutheran Church. Merle had worked at Penick and Ford in Cedar Rapids for many years and retired from General Mills.
Merle is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, David of La Marque, Texas and Dan (Barb) of Robins; three grandchildren, Tabitha (Michael) MaDill, Kelsey Teed and Katherine Teed; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn MaDill; a sister, Marilyn (Steve) Carolan of Midway; a brother, Roger A. Teed; an uncle, John (Wilma) Priest of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Vohn; and three sisters, Hilda Gilson and two in infancy.
Merle enjoyed listening for hours to Bluegrass music.
