Roxanne R. Hemann, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at her home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, by the Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Roxanne is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Alicia Southwick and husband Ray of Des Moines, Katie Hemann of Cedar Rapids and Amanda Hemann of Northglenn, Colo.; grandchildren, Damien, Lucas, Xavier, Jacob, Jonathan, Carter, Kylie and Ayden; siblings, Fred Slaymaker and Ernie (Mary) Slaymaker, both of Decatur, Ill., and Sharon (Gerald) Gilson of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kurtis; and her parents, Alfred and Alice (Bell) Slaymaker.
Roxanne was born May 18, 1957, in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. She married James E. Hemann on Oct. 12, 1985, in Cedar Rapids. Roxanne had been employed at United Fire and Casualty Co. for over 30 years until retiring due to medical issues in 2014.
Roxanne loved her family and especially being grandma to her eight grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established and donations may be given to the family.
