Joanne Madden was born May 28, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lillie Mae (Curry) Madden. She graduated from the Tiffin High School, where to this day she was proud of being on the girl's basketball team. On Nov. 3, 1950, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Carl Brant, and to this union four children were born. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Tiffin area.
As her need to be at home lessened, she worked outside the home at a number of businesses in the area, including one of her favorites and favorites of her family, “The Purple Cow,” on the Coralville strip. She also worked at Younkers, TG&Y and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics just to name a few. She loved the public and the public loved her!
After Ken's death in March 1995, she married Reese Greer on May 8, 2003. These two enjoyed much together, their families, their many friends, and as best friends to share their lives together with. Reese died in December 2009.
Her family includes her children, Dianna Brack of Tiffin, Sandy Tomas (Allen) of Oxford and Annette Mossman (Steven) of Van Meter, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Dawn Brant of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Tony Brack (Kristin), Nicholas Tomas (Sue Busta), Jennifer Bernacki (Dustin), Jesse Brant, Kara Brant, Amy Brant and Tanner Mossman; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Bernacki; Reese's children, Lisa Tomash (David) of Iowa City and Dana Greer (Maureen) of Iowa City; Reese's nine grandchildren; and Joanne's sisters, Dorothy Verry of Coralville, Maxine Tomash of Unionville, Iowa, Virginia Smith of Unionville, Iowa, Ruth Carmona of Wichita Falls, Texas and Margaret Swenka of Lewistown, Mo.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Kenneth and Reese; son, Larry Brant; son-in-law, Daniel Brack; and seven siblings.
