Judith K. "Judy" Yeager, 62, of Dubuque, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Rd., Dubuque. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Dubuque, where there will be visitation Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bellevue.
Judy was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Bellevue, daughter of Melvin and Verrena (Giesemann) Dagitz. She graduated from Bellevue Community High School and the University of Dubuque. On May 20, 1972, she married Neill Yeager at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue.
Judy was a dedicated and gifted teacher. She taught special education at Prescott Elementary School and Eisenhower Elementary School and special education and kindergarten at Audubon Elementary School, retiring in 2009.
Judy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family always came first. Judy had a way of making everyone feel special with her thoughtful words, gifts and cards.
She loved taking photos at family functions, gardening in her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Neill Yeager; three children, Amy (John) Welter and their children, Daniel, Sophie and Thomas, and David Yeager and Christopher Yeager, all of Dubuque; her mother, Verrena Dagitz Stein of Dubuque; two siblings, Betty (Ron) Cavanagh of Dubuque and Mark (Amy) Dagitz of Des Moines; a stepsister, Sandy Stein of New Jersey; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Clasen of Bellevue, Alice (Cal) Boland of Bradenton, Fla., Les Yeager of Cedar Rapids and Jane (Bob) Heinsen of Des Moines; and nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, Ken Stein.
A Judith Yeager Memorial Fund has been established.
