Stephen A. Schrader, 62, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Martin Center at Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls after a battle with brain cancer.

Steve was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, son of Arthur and Phyllis (Floyd) Schrader. He married Linda Cravens on Feb. 14, 2004, in Waterloo.

Steve graduated from Dysart-Geneseo High School and attended UNI. He farmed in Dysart until 1995 and was currently self-employed with his company DisABLEd Workers.

Steve is survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Daniel (Laura) Schrader of Powell, Ohio; a daughter, Stefanie (Chris) Steies of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Alana, Ariana, Adriana, Laila, Lillian, Quintus and Ethan; his parents, Arthur and Phyllis of Dysart; a brother, Robert (Mary) Schrader of Rochester Hills, Mich.; three sisters, Janice (Bryant) Stock of Rio Rancho, N.M., Lori (Kevin) Lemon of Ankeny and Sandy (Brock) Sells of Ames; and extended family, Shane Wait and Tara McElroy.

Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, 300 W. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Stephan Ave., Waterloo, with additional visitation an hour before the service. A luncheon will be held following the service. Family and friends will return to the luncheon after the burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 3912 W. Fourth St., Waterloo.

The three most important things to Steve were spending time with his family, especially his seven grandchildren, spreading the word of God as a very active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and his love of helping people in need.
