David Gene Myers, 68, of Newhall, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at the VA Health Care System in Iowa City. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with military rites. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the funeral home.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, David (Elizabeth) Myers II, Margaret (James) Mauck, Barbara Rupe, Victoria St. John, Daniel (Amanda) Myers and Donald Myers; stepchildren, Melissa (James) Mincey and Chelsea Cobb; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Lowell (Starla) Myers, Carol (Dominic) Boyd, Connie (Chuck) Franck, Martin (Gloria) Myers and Steve Myers; sisters-in-law, Cathy Ham and Brenda (Patrick) Quandt; brother-in-law, Robert (Michelle) Kirk; and father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Joyce Frondle.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Margaret; sister, Sharon Ecroyd; brothers, Robert Joe and Wayne; sister-in-law, Sandy Myers, and step-daughter, Misty Hayes.
David was born Sept. 15, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Lowell and Margaret (Cook) Myers. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He married Beverly J. Mathews on Dec. 2, 2006. David was a truck driver for Cedar Valley Asphalt before he retired in 2003.
