Marchik, Daniel J.
Daniel J Marchik of Iowa City chose to seek peace on January 24. He was born Feb. 28, 1959, to Robert L. and Lorna M. (Crock) Marchik and attended Tipton Community Schools, graduating in 1977. He is survived by his mother; sisters, Billie M.A. (Sandy Brennan) Marchik, Lacona, Catherine (Leigh) Sloan, Iowa City, Maggie Marchik, Tipton, and Diane (Joe Mowrer) Marchik, Kewaskum, Wis.; and brothers, Dennis (Mary Ellen) Marchik, Tipton, and Donald (Rhonda) Marchik, Stanwood. He was long a companion to Diane Condon and father to her children, Shanea and Hailey. He is also survived by special friend, Karen Giliespie. He was preceded in death by his father.
Daniel loved his family, friends, cooking, and carpentry. As a self-employed contractor, he strove for excellence in all of his projects. He was a champion for those in need and gave of his time and expertise unselfishly. He had an uncanny ability to find information to aid him in his many projects. With a fantastic ability for organizing events, he delighted in creating elaborate floral arrangements and memorable celebrations. He enjoyed spending time cooking for family gatherings and helped orchestrate numerous events. His love of singing was shared by many friends and family. Dan had a wonderful laugh and great stories to tell. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday, Feb. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Online condolences may be shared at .
