Weldon, Daniel J.
Daniel J. Weldon, 60, of Parnell, passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, due to complications of heart failure on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Michael's Church in Holbrook, with a luncheon following at the church hall. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery.
A general memorial fund has been established.

Daniel Joseph Weldon was born Feb. 27, 1953, in Williamsburg, Iowa, a son of James L. and Vivian (Orris) Weldon. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1971. In June 1975, he married Susan J. Davis in Iowa City. Daniel had lived all of his life in the Parnell and Holbrook area. He was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. In his youth he enjoyed working with horses and later on he enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets and traveling. He worked 29 years at Shellar-Globe/IAC in Iowa City, making automotive interior parts. The past year-and-a-half he had the pleasure and enjoyment of working at Mary Welsh School in Williamsburg, where he loved getting to know the children. His greatest joy of course was his family and spending time with them.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Susan Weldon of Parnell; children, Sterling Andersen of North English, Elissa (Kevin) Kuhnle of Williamsburg and Brad Weldon of Parnell; his mother, Vivian Weldon of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Andersen and Nora, Kayla and Dalton Kuhnle; his dogs, Maggie and Jack; and siblings, Pat (Garry) Yauk, Peg Weldon and friend Kevin McGruder, Jim (Sandy) Weldon, Tim (Lea) Weldon, Jeff (Sally) Weldon, Ron (Kathy Stockton) Weldon, Doug (Karen Azevedo) Weldon, Tony (Shari) Weldon, Sharon Weldon and Helen Weldon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James “Red” Weldon.
