Mark William Schminkey, 53, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the funeral home. Officiated by the Rev. Mark Thomas.
Mark was born April 20, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Deanna (Fite) Schminkey. He graduated from Jefferson High School and was an auto mechanic at Dea & Bob's Auto Repair for most of his life. Mark attended Central Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. He always enjoyed a motorcycle ride and would find time for a good fishing spot. Most of all, Mark loved to spend time with his family.
Mark is survived by his children, Darcy (Kurt) Grimm of Marion, Sean Schminkey of Chicago and Bryan Schminkey of Marion; grandson, Zavier Grimm; parents, Bob and Deanna of Cedar Rapids; siblings, John of Minnesota, Joe (Mary) of Colorado, David (Dawn) of Missouri, Rob (Brandi) of Cedar Rapids and James of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and companion, Rose Kern of Vinton.
