Trimble Sr., Marvin
Marvin Trimble Sr., 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St. in Vinton, with the Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Marvin was born June 1, 1930, in Cedar Rapids to Dale and Bernita (Quackenbush) Trimble. During the Korean War he served his nation in the U.S. Army. On Nov. 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Betty Dake at Morrison, Ill. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2007.
Marvin was a welder and had been employed by Wendling Quarries and Jim Kirk before to retirement after 53 years. He had also been a member of the Garrison Volunteer Fire Department.
Marvin enjoyed nature, camping, fishing and hunting, and scratching Lotto Tickets. He also loved being able to rescue animals. However, his greatest pleasure came from time spent with his family.
He is survived by his children, Roxa (Art) Cummings of Spirit Lake, Krystal (Lenny) Geiger of Vinton and Marvin Jr. (Michelle) Trimble of Garrison; his daughter-in-law, Chong (Toni) Ashby of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Kathryn (Scott) Sanders of Cedar Rapids, Doris Lovelett of Cedar Rapids and Dorothy (Kenneth) Hartwig of Shellsburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jack; and his sisters, Velma Hepker, Alice Van Woert and SandraTrimble.
