Clarence
John H. Dircks, 88, of Clarence, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Clarence Nursing Home. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. Pastor Tommi Boeder will officiate.
Born Feb. 10, 1929, in rural Clarence, he was the son of Richard and Della (Hartwig) Dircks. He married Joyce Shontz on July 22, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
John graduated from Clarence High School and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He farmed most of his life around Clarence.
John liked to read, play cards, bowl and sports in general. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; son, G. Bradley (Lisa) of Clarence; daughter, Cynthia (Douglas) Christensen of Lincoln, Neb.; granddaughter, Ashley Christensen; and grandsons, Kael, Kyle and Weston Dircks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
