Bohr, Don Keith
Don Keith Bohr, 71, of Lisbon, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Lisbon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar St. Burial will follow in Lisbon Cemetery.
Don was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Iowa City, the son of Harold William and Hilda M. (Stritt) Bohr. He married Rita Ann Mitchell on Nov. 12, 1960, in Lisbon. Don was a very hard working and dedicated man who farmed in the Lisbon and Mechanicsville area from 1958 until 1982. He later worked as a security guard at the University of Iowa until his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed talking and visiting with family and friends, helping others, gardening, fishing, hunting, and following sports, especially the Hawkeyes and Bears.
Don is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Jeff (Tammy) Bohr, Brian Bohr and Melissa (Joe) Nelson, all of Lisbon; five grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Caspers, Jessie (Brian) Farrell, Jacob Bohr, Jordan Bohr and Elizabeth Bohr; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Lynnlee Caspers; and his grandpuppy, Hawkeye.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dean Bohr.
Memorials may be directed to the church, Hospice of Mercy or the family.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Oncology Associates, Mercy Medical Center 8th floor and Hospice of Mercy.
