MAURINE HABERMAN Kalona A celebration of life for Maurine B. Haberman, of Lone Tree, formerly of Kalona, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. Maurine B. Haberman died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Historical Society. Maurine Barbara Haberman was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Alta Vista, Iowa, the daughter of Nick and Susan (Hentzes) Nosbish. She graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1936. On Jan. 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arch Haberman in Alta Vista. Maurine and Arch owned and operated the Kalona Creamery and Kalona Old Fashioned Ice Cream for many years and she was the bookkeeper for that business. The couple spent 42 summers in Lake George, Colo., where they owned Red Roof Cabins and hosted many visitors from the Kalona area. Maurine enjoyed playing golf and knitting. Survivors include one daughter, Janet (Robert) Long of Iowa City; one grandson, Jeff (Tami) Long of Silverthorne, Colo.; one granddaughter, Jeanie (Rob) Kochan of Swisher; four great-grandchildren, Tate, Austin, Tanner and Hudson Kochan; and one brother, Leon (Nelson) Nosbish of West Branch. Preceding Maurine in death were her parents; her husband, Arch in 2002; her son, Allen in 1997; a granddaughter, Avery Kochan in 2008; three sisters, Bertha, Mabel and Hazel; and three brothers, Nick, Ralph and Jerry Nosbish.
