Frieda H. Bartels, 90, of Oelwein, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Oelwein Health Care Center. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
A memorial fund has been established.

Frieda is survived by her six children, Lloyd “Jim” Bartels of Oelwein, Jerry (Dora) Bartels of Oelwein, Jeff (Lynn) Bartels of Oelwein, Jacqueline (Roger) Nelson of Oelwein,
Jerome (Nancy) Bartels of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Jan (Norman) VanDeWalker of Oelwein.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Lloyd on Aug. 10, 1980; three brothers, Alvin, Walter and Herman Potratz; and two sisters, Laura Kisner and Marie Yarrington Prentise.
