Mary "Lorraine" Beranek LeClere, 82, of Prairieburg, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at her home surrounded by family. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral Mass:
10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Prairieburg. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Nelson LeClere; her four children, Wanda Silver of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Kathy) LeClere of Prairieburg, Linda (Jeff) Holub of Central City and Ronald LeClere of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Barbara Heller and Donald Beranek, both of Prairieburg; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Ida Beranek.
Lorraine was born June 30, 1934, to Anthony "Tony" and Ida Beranek in Linn County. Lorraine attended a one-room country school, Boulder Union No. 5, for one year, and St. Joseph Catholic School for eight years in Prairieburg. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1952. On Nov. 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Nelson LeClere at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. She worked for Baxter Motors in Coggon, the town of Prairieburg as treasurer for 45 years and at the Prairieburg Telephone Co. as bookkeeper for 39 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Rosary Society.
