Work on multi-tenant building starts soon at Westdale

Construction of the second multi-tenant building along Edgewood Road at Westdale will begin this spring.

The 7,500-square-foot building, which is expected to be finished by the fall, will sit adjacent to the new US Bank building. Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will take up about 3,300 square feet of the building.

This will be Freddy's fourth location in Iowa - the hamburger joint has a location on Blairs Ferry Road, as well as locations in Waterloo and Council Bluffs. The Westdale location is expected to open before Thanksgiving, according to a news release.

As for additional tenants, Lisa Rowe, Westdale General Manager, said several leases are being finalized and there are letters of intent in place, but there are no signed deals quite yet. But more announcements are expected soon, she added.

Dave Drown, leasing agent with GLD Commercial, said in the release that the group is 'in discussions with two, new-to-the-market, free-standing restaurants for the two remaining outlots on Edgewood Road.”

Rowe said infrastructure and roadways are in the final stages of completion, adding once that extensive work is completed, residents will see more vertical construction in the 72-acre site.

'We are happy that Freddy's will be among those additions to Westdale,” she said.
