Baxter, Christine Elizabeth (Betty)
Christine Elizabeth (Betty) Baxter, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at home. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Grace Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Carl D. Mann and the Rev. Curt Moermond. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara Mann Berdahl of Wheaton, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Helen Homer of Cross Lanes, W.V., and Pam Mann of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Rose Mary Barlow; and three brothers, Thomas, John and David Mann.
Betty was born April 27, 1927, the daughter of Homer and Christine (Robinson) Mann in Cedar Rapids. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married George Baxter in Iowa City, Iowa. He died Dec. 21, 1993.
Betty was employed in the insurance industry for 45 years. She then served as secretary at Grace Episcopal Church for eight years, retiring in 1998.
Memorials may be directed to Grace Episcopal Church or St. Luke's Hospice in memory of Betty Baxter.
