Roger Robertson, 90, of Central City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home in Central City, by Pastor Jennifer Filter. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, with military honors provided by American Legion Wapsie Post No. 421 of Central City.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lorraine; three children, Terry (Karen) Robertson of Central City, Denise (Jim) Frank of Urbana and Dean (LuAnn) Robertson of Shell Rock; eight grandchildren, Amy, Angela, Kimberly, Shane, Andrea, Holly, Jeff and Bryan; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris (Don) Schminke of Austin, Minn.; and two nephews, Ron Robertson and David Goodlove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Wilbur, Kenneth, Pauline, Paul and Zella; and grandson, Jamie.
Roger was born May 6, 1924, in Anamosa, the son of John and Cora (Kleinfelter) Robertson. He graduated from Central City High School in 1943. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He married Lorraine Marie Coleman on Jan. 25, 1947, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Roger was a dairy farmer in the Central City area for over 37 years. He was a member of United Parrish Church in Coggon.
