Young, Mary Margaret 'Tootie'

Mary Margaret “Tootie” Young, 73, died March 5, 2011, in Fort Myers, Fla., unexpectedly after a short illness. Tootie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jim, in Cedar Rapids. A private memorial service will be held by the family.

Tootie was born April 2, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa to Melvin and Laura Bahl. Tootie married the love of her life, Jim Young, in 1958 and spent the majority of her working career as a physician's assistant in Cedar Rapids.

She was a golfer, entertainer of friends and a person who always had a good joke or funny story to share. Her laugh was infectious and she adored the study of medicine, being creative, sewing, painting, fashion, reading good books and going shopping.

She loved her family and friends and will be missed by many.

Tootie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and brothers, James and Donald.

She is survived by her four children, Dr. Jeffry Young (Tonya), Jonathan Young, Missy Young Perry (Jack) and Martha Young Rome (Erick); and her grandchildren, Mitchell, Carly, Eddie, Timothy, Gregory, Elizabeth Ann, Eli and Maya.

In lieu of flowers, memorials gifts may be sent to Northern Voices Oral School for the Deaf, 1660 County Road B., Roseville, MN 55113.
