Sherri Lynn Cavenee, 56, of rural Wamego, Kan., died Nov. 1, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kan., from an apparent heart attack.
She was born May 19, 1960, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Mettler) Houston, and had been an area resident since 1983.
Sherri worked for Wharton Manor Nursing Home as a certified medication aide and certified nurse's aide. She was currently working for RHP in property management.
She was a den mother and troop mother when her sons were active in scouting. Most of all she loved spoiling her grandsons.
On Aug. 15, 1992, in Manhattan, she was married to David B. Cavenee. David of the home survives.
Additional survivors include her two sons, Travis Cavenee and his wife, Dawn, of Sioux City and Eddie Cavenee of Manhattan; three siblings, Sue Jaeger of Monticello, Sandy Duffy of Cascade and Chuck Houston of Monticello; and four grandsons, Austin, Audric, Charles and Kaiden.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Karen Houston; and one granddaughter, Aiyana Cavenee.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Inurnment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.
