Kromminga, Edmund 'Eddie'
Edmund “Eddie” Kromminga, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Private Committal Services will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone.
Memorials may be given to Keystone Nursing Care Center, St. John Lutheran Church, or St. Luke's Hospice.
Eddie was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Blairstown to Fred and Else (Harder) Kromminga and graduated from the Keystone High School in 1945. On Dec. 15, 1947, he married Genevieve Konicek at the Keystone Parsonage.
Eddie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. Prior to his retirement he was feed salesman. He enjoyed fishing and sightseeing in Benton County.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Keystone; six children, Daniel (Deb) Kromminga of Albany, Ga., Denese (special friend, Paul Sofranko) Kromminga of Solon, Jill (Jeff Risk) Kromminga of Iowa City, Jeffrey (Darla) Kromminga of Keystone, John (Margo) Kromminga of Johnston, Kara (Michael) Cobb of Urbandale; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine (Ken) Selk of Keystone; brother, Donald (Mardean) Kromminga of Keystone; stepsister, Margarite (Jim) Wilmore of Hubbard; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Kromminga of Keystone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Henry Buck; his daughter, Deborah; and one brother, Duane Kromminga.
