Knott, Betty Jane
Betty Jane Knott, 87, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, formerly of Coggon, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 21, 2013, surrounded by her family. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. The family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Coggon.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Janet) Knott of Marion, Jackie (Steven) Henderson of Anamosa and Kristine (Steve) Moore of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Tami (Don) Loughren, Tina (Matt) Brennecke, Tara (Scott) Bettis, Chris Knott, Jolene (Ted) Colpo, Steven (Tara) Henderson, Lynette Paulus, James (Tonya) Marx, Patrick Marx and Elizabeth (Barney) Miell; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Knott.
Betty was born May 11, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lester “Tom” and Elizabeth (Boyer) Caldwell. She had two brothers, Jack and Don Caldwell. Betty married James Knott on July 20, 1946, in Coggon. James died Dec. 1, 1997. Betty enjoyed her years spent at the river and very much enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
