Jane Carney left her earthly home on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, to forever be in her heavenly home.
Jane leaves behind her beloved husband of 59 years. She and Paul are parents to Congressman Christopher Paul (Jennifer), Clayton Patrick (Lynn), Commander Cameron Philip (Maggie), Dr. Caroline Patricia and Clinton Parker. Twelve grandchildren, three sisters and one brother grieve her loss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Grace Greiner; sisters, JoAnn, Rita and Colleen; and brother, Peter.
She was born May 28, 1935, in Keota, Iowa. The family later moved to Lisbon, Iowa, where they established a farm. She attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Lisbon High School. Jane was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and was a longtime Mercy Hospital employee. She married Paul Carney on Aug. 6, 1957. They were lifelong residents of Coggon.
Scripture service and visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 5, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coggon. Services are private and by invitation.
A memorial fund has been established.
