Betenbender, Glen 'Pete'
Glen “Pete” Betenbender, 87, of Coggon, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, conducted by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial: Jordan's Grove Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include two sons, Max (Donna) Betenbender of Coggon, and Larry (Ana) Betenbender of Iowa City; one granddaughter, Teresa Wagner; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Blaber and Cameron Klouda; and one brother, Dale (Lillian) Betenbender.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; his parents; a brother, Merle, and a sister, Viola Henderson.
Pete was born March 7, 1922, the son of Earl and Martha (Nielson) Betenbender, in rural Linn County. He married Blanche Bliss on Feb. 10, 1945 in Coggon. He was founder of Betenbender Manufacturing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used in the sponsorship for children to attend YMCA Camp Wapsie, in Pete's memory.
