Clute, Verna Mae
Verna Mae Clute, 88, of Coggon, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Evergreen Estates III, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at United Parish, Coggon, by Chaplain Kim Vogel. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Doris (Jim) Hoskins of Coggon, Barb (Jim) Brecht of Center Point, and Don (Lisa) Clute of Coggon; eight grandchildren, Darrin Peyton, Rani (Brett) Lange, Nicki (Joe) Mingo, Roger (Sarah) Brecht, Al (Rachel) Brecht, Jennifer Clute, Angie (James) Woge and Jason (Jo) Clute; 18 great-grandchildren with another baby Brecht (Al and Rachel) due in November; two brothers, Dean and Dale Lippincott; one sister, Virginia Zimmerman; and one brother–in-law, Jim Clute.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.B. Clute; a daughter, Jill; four brothers; and five sisters.
Verna was born Feb. 5, 1922, the daughter of S. Ray and Agnes (Douglass) Lippincott in Brooklyn, Iowa. She married Robert Clute on Dec. 31, 1941.
A memorial fund has been established in Verna's memory.
