Cox, Bernice 'Ida'
Bernice “Ida” Cox, 56, of Vinton, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, following a brief illness. A Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E Sixth St., Vinton, with the Rev. Greg Collins officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Ida was born Aug. 24, 1953, in Iowa City, to Clem and Bernice (Kyle) Mahan. She was a resident at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, where she greatly enjoyed her time spent there. Ida loved playing cards, BINGO, Dominos, and marbles with her many friends there. Most of all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and watching her boys play softball. She also liked to shop and care for her animals.
Ida is survived by her children, Angie (Elaine) Neal of Cedar Rapids, Shane (Ellie) Cox, Travis (Katie) Cox, Todd (Beth) Cox, all of Vinton; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
Her parents, one brother, and grandson, Dayton Todd Countryman, preceded her in death.
