Joan R. Jossie, 81, of Coggon, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Alan Jossie of Marengo, Michael (Elizabeth) Jossie of Muckersville, Laura (Kevin) Vaske of Manchester and Lisa (Randy) Heller of Prairieburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Baumann of Prairieburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanford; son, Robert; brother, Richard; and sisters, Holly and Marvel.
Joan was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Earl and Georgia Rosendahl. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1955. On April 13, 1957, Joan married Stanford Jossie in Cedar Rapids. She was a cook for North Linn schools for several years. Joan enjoyed to people-watch and attend to her garden. She loved taking care of the people of Coggon.
