Lynn was born April 6, 1945, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Elmer and Verna (Oehlert) Janes. After attending Belle Plaine High School, Lynn was co-owner of D & L Roofing in the Cedar Rapids area and later became a bar owner in Belle Plaine. He enjoyed driving all the "big boy toys" as a machinery operator while working for 20 years on Nolan Farms in Van Horne. He retired in 2014.
Lynn was an avid fisherman, traveling to Arkansas in the spring and fall and to Wisconsin in the summer. His mechanical aptitude made him many camping friends as he would help them work out their camper malfunctions.
Lynn will be remembered by his family and friends as a fun-loving storyteller, who did not sit on the sidelines, but lived life to the fullest extent.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Meredith) Janes of Van Horne; his children, Gary (Laura) Jordan of Cedar Rapids, Lynn (Scott) Markham of Belle Plaine, Barbie Gardner of Toledo, Angela (Gregg) Staszak of Pulaski, Wis., Keeley (Rick) Carter of Coralville and Amanda (Chad) Woods of Creston; sister, Karen (Nick) Gallent of Pleasant Hill; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Nick Seaton.
