Iowa City man faces felony drug charges

Police arrested an Iowa City man on a series of drug charges Tuesday.

Police arrested Dylan D. Scott, 21, of 1111 Hollywood Blvd., Iowa City on suspicion of two controlled substance violations -- one a Class C felony, the other a Class D felony -- and an Iowa drug tax stamp violation.

According to police reports, officers stopped Scott's car around 4 p.m. Tuesday at 801 Crosspark Avenue because the center brake light on his car wasn't working. Police said they could smell marijuana coming from the car.

Police searched the vehicle and Scott, and as he spread his legs, a bag containing roughly .3 ounces of crack cocaine and nine bags of marijuana fell from his shorts.

Scott told police that the drugs were his and that he packaged some of the bags himself.

Scott is being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
