DeWayne Allen Bonnett, 63, died of cancer Jan. 2, 2015, at his home near Strawberry Point. His loving sister was by his side.
He is survived by his children, Caleb, Rachael Kubik (Gabriel) and Bethany; his sister, Karyl; three nieces, Stephanie, Tracy and Brenda; two nephews, Fareyd and Jeff; an uncle, Bill; an aunt, Mary Craft (Don); his lifelong friend, Dean Richardson (Gaye); and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis.
During his younger years, DeWayne and his brother, Dennis, partici-pated in the sport of motocross. Both were well known for their prowess in Iowa and surrounding states. DeWayne went on to compete professionally which included motocross events in New York, Florida and Arizona.
As DeWayne aged, his interests changed to competitive mountain biking, cross country skiing and running marathons. DeWayne's trophy room was overflowing with trophies and awards earned during these competitions.
Accomplishments of his children, nieces and nephews in all areas of life were always a great source of pride.
DeWayne fought, fought and fought for the light and did not go gently into that night. DeWayne will be sorely missed by his loved ones and many friends.
At DeWayne's request, his body was cremated and no services performed.
