Chante Denise Barnes, 43, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: noon Wednesday at Living Waters Kingdom Church by Pastor Willie Jenkins and master of ceremonies Caleb Thomas. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Chante is survived by her son, Savion of Cedar Rapids; her grandfather, Joseph Barnes of Centerville; her daughter, DaJana Harris of Chicago; her brother, Shawn Leonard of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Latonya Jackson; her brothers, Perry Hooks and David Turner; her aunts, Francine, Deloris, Virgia and Regina; her uncles, Cameron, Robert and Frank; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra Barnes; father, Tony Guthrie; and maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents.
Chante was born Dec. 31, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Tony Guthrie and Debra Barnes. She graduated from Washington High School in 1993. Chante had worked at Safelite AutoGlass since 2015.
