Donna (Petersen) DeBrie, 81, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the Solon Care Center. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Private family graveside services will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Donna was born Aug. 30, 1936, to Jeneta (Lenz) and Henry Petersen, in West Branch, Iowa. Donna graduated from Iowa City High School in 1955. She went to work for Moore Business Forms and met and married her husband, Dick DeBrie, on his return from the Navy. They were married Aug. 18, 1956. She then went on to work for the Johnson County treasurer and later for Hills Bank & Trust Co.
Along with her parents, Donna and Dick built Hi Point Golf Course. She enjoyed golf, bowling, crafts and especially their home on Leech Lake, Minn. After retirement, summers were spent fishing, boating, loon and hummingbird watching and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by sisters, Marilyn Mangold and Tootie Wood; a brother-in-law and his wife, John and Ann DeBrie; her 10 nieces and nephews; and her beloved wiener dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick; and two brothers-in-law, Don Wood and Carlton Mangold.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donna's memory to either Iowa City Hospice, American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Iowa.
