FRANCES SHERWOOD Cedar Rapids Frances "Fran" Sherwood, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at her residence under the care of her family and hospice. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Fran was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Clinton, Iowa, to Francis and Myrtle (Green) Edwards. She was united in marriage to Ronald Sherwood on Feb. 26, 1966, in Cedar Rapids. Fran worked on the assembly line at Rockwell Collins from 1965 until her retirement in 1992. She was also a professional ceramist and very active in the Collins Craft Show through this last fall. She was an excellent cake decorator who loved to add her special touch to wedding and birthday cakes. Fran also enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. She was a creative and driven woman; there wasn't anything she couldn't do. Fran enjoyed spending time with special friends Teresa and Mary. Most of all, her family meant the world to her. She will be missed dearly. Fran is survived by her husband, Ron; six children, Gary Feickert, Brenda (Lloyd Frederick) King, Sherri (Bill) Michalec, Alan Feickert, Pam Freno and Roxanne Michalec, all of Cedar Rapids; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as siblings, Donna and Marvin; and a special niece, Linda Kaspari. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Feickert; grandson, Richard A. King Jr.; and sisters, Alvina Watters and Virginia Edwards (Diana Arneson).
