Marian Katherine Peters, 95, of Nebraska, formerly of Marion, died Nov. 30, 2016, in Papillion, Neb. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Celebration of Marian's life: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Hotel, 1200 Collins Rd. NE. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1790 14th St., Marion, conducted by Father David O'Connor. Burial will take place in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marian was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Sigel Township near New Ulm, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Tauer) Baumann. She married Walter Peters in 1947 and they moved to Marion in 1955. Marian raised her children while working and volunteering.
Her passions included gardening, cooking, sewing and quilting. She was the primary caregiver to her husband during his long illness. Marian became a member of St. Joseph's Church Women's Connection and continued to volunteer and support friends until she moved to Bellevue, Neb., in 2013.
She is survived by her three children, Georgiann Sinkey, Julie Peters and Greg Peters; four grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Gregory and James; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Quinn and Lainey.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter Peters, of Sleepy Eye, Minn.
Marian is remembered by family and friends as patient, kind and friendly. She enjoyed making a difference and seeing others be successful. She touched the heart of all who knew her.
