McCarty, Gregory K.
Gregory K. McCarty, 56, of Fayette, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. There will be no funeral service. Inurnment will be at a later date. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Gregory donated tissue to the Iowa Donors Network as a gift of life to others.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Deb McCarty of Fayette; three sisters, Connie (Todd) MacDonnell of Scott City, Kan., Tracy (Larre Osterkamp) McCarty of Anamosa, and Kristy (Gary Parmenter) McCarty of Springville; and his two dogs, K.C. and Mira.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gregory Keith McCarty was born on May 25, 1953, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Keith and Betty Jean (Prull) McCarty. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1971, and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1984. Gregory married Debra Berg on Aug. 17, 1980, in Anamosa. Greg loved caving, reptiles, astronomy, computers, hiking and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
