Allen W. Syring, 62, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Al was born to Wayne and Carol Rorick Syring on Feb. 25, 1954, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Marcia Hormann on March 18, 1972, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; sons, Scott (Lisa) of Tipton and Stan (Heather) of Clarence; daughter, Lori (Dan) Nelson of Big Rock, Iowa; mother, Carol Syring of Clarence; brother, K.C. (Jill) Syring of Clarence; sister, Karen (Cliff) Klouda of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Kayla, Jenna and Cole Syring and Connor and Cameron Nelson.
Al enjoyed racing, whether it would be local dirt racing or his trips to Michigan to watch NASCAR with Marcia. He participated in demolition derbies in his earlier years. He liked to relax at the cabin, scratch lottery tickets, casinos, driving semis or going to his grandkids' activities.
He was preceded in death by his father.
