Gase reaches PASS podium again

Cedar Rapids teenage race car driver Joey Gase earned a spot on the podium after the latest Pro All Stars Series event in Rougemont, N.C.

Gase, a 17-year-old junior at Cedar Rapids Xavier High School and SS Green Light Racing team member, finished third at the PASS Summer Sizzler 150 at Orange County Speedway on Sunday, June 27. it was his second straight podium finish in PASS competition. He placed third in the Orange Blossom Special on April 24 at the same track.

It was the third top-10 finish for Gase, who became the youngest late model season points champion at Hawkeye Downs Speedway last summer.

"It was just a crazy race, our right front is going down and the car was getting real tight at the end," Gase said. "I want to thank ASI Limited, my dad and grandpa and everyone that helped us get here."

"I''m just excited to hold on to the top-three finish."

Gase's next scheduled event for SS Green Light Racing is the Sunoco National Tour's Salem 150 at Salem (Ind.) Speedway on July 10.
