Hanford Post #5 American Legion Color Guard at Hawkeye Downs

After a few year absence from Hawkeye Downs Speedway, Hanford Post #5 American Legion has returned to Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids. The post has agreed to present Colors during the pre-race ceremonies this season at the track's season points races.

Friday night, Hanford Post #5 sponsored American Legion Night at Hawkeye Downs. Members of the post presented the Colors, sold poppies with the proceeds going to the Veterans Hospital, held a 50/50 raffle that will benefit American Legion programs and will have a raffle that will extend through Veterans Day, offering cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 as well as two bleacher passes to Hawkeye Downs and season pit passes to the track. A Lil Racer Car Club held a canned-food drive as well, donating the food to a local Veteran's food pantry.
