Alvin Roy Valentine, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. A committal service will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Alvin was born on May 5, 1931, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Albert and Rose (Vos) Valentine. While in the military he met and married his wife, Elisabeth.
Left to cherish Alvin's memories are his wife of 63 years, Elisabeth; children, Karen Valentine and Ken (Barb) Valentine; grandchildren, Chris (Emily) Thuerauf, Jon (Lindsay) Thuerauf, Rachel (Taylor) Gibbins, Emily Thuerauf and Dustin (fiancé Amanda) Valentine; stepgrandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Baxa and Daniel (Suzy) Baxa; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Warren (Betty) Valentine and Pete (Harriett) Valentine.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sister, Nellie Riepma.
