Hagerman, Richard E. 'Dick'
Richard E. “Dick” Hagerman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Central Church of Christ, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Norman Bales. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Sally; children, Larry (Jill) Hagerman of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Alice) Hagerman of Toddville and Patty (Gregg) Greaser of Hiawatha; grandchildren, Brian and Mark Hagerman, Kalli Wilson, Kelly, Michael and Mitchell Hagerman, and Nikki Chambers; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Russell Hagerman of Indianapolis.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roy Hagerman.
Born June 19, 1922, in Toddville, Iowa, Dick was the son of Lon and Bessie (Newman) Hagerman. On March 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Iva Jean “Sally” Waterbury. For 41 years, Dick worked for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1982.
Dick was a member of Central Church of Christ, serving as deacon and treasurer for over 30 years. He was also a 15-year member of SCORE.
Dick was an accomplished woodworker and an avid golfer. One of his greatest joys was attending family activities.
Memorials may be directed in Dick's memory to Central Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff at West Ridge Care Center for the hospice care provided to Dick. We also wish to thank Dr. Todd Langager for his care of Dick for the past 25 years.
