GREGORY TRUMAN
Iowa City
Gregory D. Truman, 59, a resident of Iowa City, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away in the loving arms of his wife, Judy Carbaugh, at the Univers-ity of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. We lost our husband, brother, uncle and friend on Friday, Nov. 7, 2015, due to compli-cations from a grand mal seizure.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Betten-dorf. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Greg was born Oct. 15, 1956. He lived in Bettendorf, where he graduated from high school in 1974. After attending college at Augustana, he lived in Chicago for five years, and then moved to the Los Angeles area in 1984. In 1997, he returned to the Quad Cities, where he met the love of his life. Greg and Judy acted onstage together at Playcrafters Theatre, then moved to Iowa City, and married there Aug. 6, 2005.
Greg always looked at the bright side of life. He said that he was a "true man" (a pun on his last name), and his first name suited him because of his gregarious personality!
He was very kind, generous and loyal to all who came into contact with him. He was passionate about music, sports, and had a broad knowledge of all that was beautiful.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwayn and Joan Truman; and nephew, Matthew Russell.
Greg is deeply missed by Judy; his sister, Pat, Coon Rapids, Minn.; brothers, Tim (Leslie), Woodstock, Ill., Brad and Barry (Barb), Bettendorf, and Garry (Lynne), Omaha Neb.; sister-in-law, Diane (Edwin) Hung, Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be made to Greg's family by viewing his obituary at www.mcginnis-chambers.com.
