Knoll, Robert D.
Robert D. Knoll, 80, of 695 Shannon Dr., Robins, died at his home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, after a brief illness. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Douglas (Darcy) of Millersburg; a daughter, Debora Maneir of Kissie Mills, Mo.; a brother, Samuel (Shirley) of Webster City; a sister, Margaret (Lod) Nichols of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and two sisters.
Bob was born April 10, 1932, in Webster City, the son of Orville and Bernice Thompson Knoll. He married Toshiko Yokichi on May 19, 1986, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2009. Bob was an engineer at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there in 1990 after more than 35 years of service.
Bob enjoyed feeding the birds in his back yard, going to air shows, the casino and especially the time spent with family and friends.
